Moxifloxacin-containing Regimen Greatly Reduces Time to Culture Conversion in Murine Tuberculosis

Jacques H. Grosset

Johns Hopkins University Baltimore, Maryland

To the Editor:

I wish to make corrections of typographical errors in the METHODS section of our article published in the AJRCCM (1).

The final concentrations of antibiotics in the selective media when plating lung homogenates on 7H10 medium were as follows:

  • cycloheximide, 50 µg/ml (not 10 as reported)
  • polymyxin B, 200 U/ml (not 200,000 as reported)
  • carbenicillin, 50 µg/ml as reported
  • trimethoprim, 20 µg/ml as reported.

In the subsection of METHODS entitled "ASSESSMENT OF TREATMENT EFFICACY," the last sentence should read "CFU counts were performed as previously described (15), except that plates for lung homogenates were supplemented with cycloheximide (50 µg/ml), polymyxin B (200 U/ml), carbenicillin (50 µg/ml), and trimethoprim (20 µg/ml) to prevent contamination (adapted from Mitchison and coworkers [29])."
