Spirometry after Lung Volume Reduction Surgery

It has come to our attention that we made an algebraic error in an equation (Equation 4) published in Appendix E1 of the online supplement to our article (1). This equation described the relationship between FEV₁/FVC and the product of resistance (R) and compliance (C), the time constant of the lung. The correct Equation 4 should read:

Thus, increases in FEV₁/FVC reflect decreases in either resistance or compliance.
